Quilt Monday: Playing with “Plain Spoken”

Monday, February 26th, 2007

I joined the Modern Quilt-along, which is maybe bad news for a natural rebel like me. You see, I was meant to quilt this along in all solids, and what is this business?

Tea cups and cameos and Versailles - oh my!

I finished this top last weekend, but I do so enjoy observing Quilt Monday, so please enjoy this preview of coming attractions…

What did you do today?

I invented a quiche.

Not hard to do, I know, but it was very tasty.  Check it out on BakeSpace.

And while you're at it, check out BakeSpace!  You will love it as much as I do.

A Jennicakes Pillow…

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

I'm really starting to love making patchwork pillows.  I think it's the scale of them, the way the embellishment doesn't get lost the way it would on a larger surface.

I don't know why I never got into pillow-making before.  With quilts and eye shades already in my line, it seems weird that I never took this step.  Of course, pillows are bulky for mailing and carting to shows.  Makes me wish I could afford a storefront and just load a settee (or three) with these.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Quilt Monday: Tiki Time!

Monday, February 12th, 2007

As you may know, I recently swapped quilt blocks with the fabulous Sister Diane of the CraftyPod, which is pretty much my favorite podcast.   If you haven't been listening, you either don't craft, or you live in a cave where there is no wireless, and, frankly, neither of those is much of an excuse.

For her blocks, she chose a tiki theme, which was as fun as it sounds to work on, especially with the help of my Stitch-It Kit. Kapow!

But could I have used a clashinger background on which to photograph these?  Geez, Jennicakes!

I'm afraid I've created a monster with that little pineapple.  I think my next years-long quilting endeavor will have to be a whole mess of bordered red work, in tiny and precious designs just like that.  Somebody, please talk me out of that.
